Medical School and Residency
Dr. Burgdorf earned his Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Notre Dame. He received his Medical Degree from Tulane University Medical School in New Orleans while concurrently earning his Master’s Degree in Public Health (M.P.H.) from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. He began his General Surgery Residency at Tulane in New Orleans, training at the renowned Charity Hospital.
While there, he was the recipient of the Gage Teaching Award, the Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award, and was an inductee into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. When his training was interrupted by the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina, he finished his general surgery residency at the University of Mississippi in Jackson. There, he was the administrative chief resident of education.
Dr. Burgdorf went on to complete a residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Mississippi.
During this training, he spent six months at The Face and Body Center, learning cosmetic surgery techniques with some of the masters in the field.
