What is Medical-Grade Skin Care?

What makes products that you can purchase from a department store, such as Macy’s or Nordstrom, different from a product available from a physician’s office?

The answer is simple – the efficacy of ingredients and the depth at which these products can penetrate. Changes are made in the living layer of the skin (also known as the dermis).

However, topical products must penetrate multiple layers of dead skin to reach this living layer. Products available over-the-counter at a department store may make big promises (none of which are evaluated or restricted by the FDA or any other governing body) but are unable to produce results, as these products tend to sit on top of the skin and fail to reach the layers in which changes are made.

Upneeq is an FDA-approved prescription product for addressing acquired blepharoptosis, a condition known better as sagging eyelids. These powerful eye drops contain oxymetazoline hydrochloride and can be applied once a day to elevate drooping lids and brighten the smile. Results typically last up to 8 hours.
